Babaji

The Kumaon region in India lies at the foot of the Himalayas.

It is the birth place and abode of several of Indiaꡑs greatest saints.

It was here that the HAIDAKHAN WALE BABA resided,

and instantly stated that He was the Shiva Mahavatar Babaji,

referred to in the book AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A YOGI

by Paramahansa Yogananda.

As a Maha Avatar, (human manifestation of the Divine not born of woman),

Babaji has continually manifested on earth in a divine body

One such manifestation of Babaji recorded in a number of books

and witnessed by many local people, was sometime in the year 1800.

He is remembered by several people even today.

At the time, Babaji travelled extensively in the Kumaon region,

gathering around him several devotees and disciples.

Several unusual events such as changing His form,

appearing simultaneously in different places

and miraculous incidents of healing the sick and dying have been recorded.

at the confluence of the Rivers Kali and Gori,

Babaji appeared in 1970 in the historic holy cave situated

at the foot of Kumaon Mount Adi Kailash at Haidakhan

(a small village in the region).

Shri Munirajji,

an early and close devotee of Shri Babaji,

was left as the head of the Babaji family

when Babaji left His body in 1984.

During the last few years of Shri Babaji's physical manifestation,

He told people that Muniraj would be the guru of the west.

He also told Muniraj that his work would begin

when He (Babaji) left His body.

In the late 70's, Shri Munirajji built a beautiful marble temple

and ashram in honour of Shri Babaji in Chilianaula, District Ranikhet,

in India. Hundreds of people travel there each year

for the celebration of Autumn Navaratri (Divine Mother festival).

In the autumn of 1995, a new hospital was first opened in Chilianaula,

the Shri Baba Haidakhan Charitable and Research Hospital.

This has been a monumental task and a tremendous service

to the million or so people in this remote area

who previously had no medical facilities to speak of.

Of the thousands of aspects of the Divine listed in the Hindu Pantheon, these four were named as the most important for this era by Haidakhan Babaji: Divine Mother, Ganesh, Hanuman and Kalbhairav. Each of these statues has received special blessings and ceremonies from Shri Muniraji with the intention that they would be housed in this building for the benefit of all who wish to receive their blessings.
In other areas of the Temple we have Icons of Mother Mary of Perpetual Help, Jesus the Teacher, the Buddha, and several photographs and paintings of Haidakhan Babaji.

This is a very auspicious occasion, as it is traditionally the

"Night of No Evil Spirits on the Earth.

all evil spirits leave the earth.

It is good to repeat the Name of God during that time or say prayers,

as there is no obstruction to the Light.

It is said that prayers have 1000 times more value when prayed at that time.

The Maha Samadhi is the REMEMBERING of Babaji and His teachings.

In Haidakhan, the morning Arati is performed and

then there is chanting in front of the TOMB

where Babaji's Body is buried all morning until lunch time.

The more quiet and reflective songs are sung rather than

the joyous loud ones.

Navaratri is a very special time of honoring the Divine Mother.

Exact translation of the word "Navaratri" is "9 nights".

Navaratri happens in Spring and in Fall of every year.

It begins on a New Moon. Each of the days honors

a certain aspect of Divine Mother and gives

a focus to the energy of that day.

These are known as the Nava Durga (9 Names of Durga).

Navaratri는 Shri Babaji 신성한 어머니 여신Shri Babaji Divine Mother festival을

존경하는 매우 특별한 9일간의 축제이다.

The first three days are devoted to Kali , the Goddess of Destruction

and Restoration, wife of Shiva; it is a time of purification,

a time to let go of all that is not "on purpose" for your life.

This is like "cleaning out your closets" to make way for new things.

of everything you are given.

Traditional Ways to Honor Divine Mother during Navaratri:

Usually, certain "sacrifices" or personal offerings are made

during the nine days, such as giving up some certain food

or drink or something you are accustomed to having or doing each day.

Some people restrict themselves to only one meal per day

throughout the nine days. Some give up their favorite beverage,

like coffee or tea; in the West, some give up watching TV

or some other daily ritual they usually engage in.

(All of you Catholics can relate to "giving up things" for Lent.)

You could also add something you don't usually do, such as reading

the "Sapta Sati" or parts of the "Ramayana" or "Mahabharata"

or other sacred scripture for 20 to 30 minutes each of the nine days.

Whatever it is you choose, the idea is that each time you think of this thing

you are doing, you offer up that thought and say a prayer to Divine Mother

to increase your devotion to Her. If you can continue

your "Sadhna" for the full 9 days,

there is a special reward from Divine Mother that happens

on either the 9th or 10th day. She promises

"a personal physical experience" of Her.

This is individualized and only you will know what it is

and when it has happened. It is up to you

if you want to share it with anyone else after it happens.

For some people it makes it more "real" to share,

for some it is more powerful to keep silent about it.

반면에 당신은 일상에서 하지 않던 기도를 더 한다

"Ramayana" 또는 "Mahabharata"의 "Sapta Sati" 등 9날

The fifth day is considered to be the "turning point" day,

when the cleansing/purification aspects are complete.

The rest of the 9 days get a little easier to handle on the day

when the Celebration is more than half completed.

The energy of each day is building so that by the end of the Navaratri

there is much energy generated,

each Fire Ceremony becoming more filled with Shakti (Divine Energy).

For the highest benefits and greatest results of Navaratri,

it is best to begin with the first day of Navaratri and go all the way

to the end without missing any of the ceremonies.

This requires some personal commitment and is definitely worth

whatever it takes for you to be able to do it.

Think of the great personal commitment and sacrifice performed

by Divine Mother in Her care of each of us each day! It is awesome!

About the Ashram

The Haidakhandi Universal Ashram is a spiritual community inspired by Haidakhan Babaji

and dedicated to the Divine Mother. The Ashram was established in 1986.

It is located at the base of a beautiful 14,000 foot mountain in Southern Colorado,

an area sacred to Native Americans because of its spiritual power and beauty.

This area is also home to several other spiritual traditions such as the Carmelites,

Tibetan Buddhists, and Zen Buddhists.

Haidakhandi Universal Ashram- Haidakhandi Universal Ashram은 영적인 공동체로서

Life at the Ashram is guided by Babaji's teachings of truth, simplicity, and love.

Babaji taught us to repeat the name of God and to perform service to humanity.

The daily schedule of the Ashram is built around this service (karma yoga),

morning and evening devotional services (aarati), simple living,

and repitition of the name of God. Babaji said to use the name of God

that is in our hearts and that all religions lead to God.

If we did not have a name of God to repeat, He taught the ancient Sanskrit mantra or prayer,

"Om Namah Shivaya". This prayer means "I bow to the God within".

Ashram에서의 삶은 진리, 단순과 사랑의 Babaji-Babaji's teachings에 의해 진행된다.

In keeping with simplicity we try to live and build in sustainable ways whenever possible.

We have a quarter acre organic garden, our own water system,

photovoltaic derived electricity, and most of our buildings are heated by Buildings

on this property include: an earthship, temple, dormitory, yurt, and greenhouse.

Principles of Action

We remember to try to base our lives at the Ashram on Babaji's instructions to speak little,

eat little, and sleep little. And so we follow a disciplined schedule

and keep a spirit of silence before morning aarati and during karma yoga hours.

What the organs feel, the mouth speaks, and the body does.ꡓ

We respectfully ask the other person involved to meet with us.

We set aside some time during the personal time on the schedule to share honestly,

lovingly, and responsibly what is going on with us.

If this process is unsuccessful, we then ask a third party to mediate

for us or bring it to an Ashram meeting.

ꡒFirstly I give you karma yoga.ꡓ These are Babaji's oft repeated words.

By offering our every action to the Divine and by not being attached to the fruits of the action,

we perform action that does no bind us.

The law of karma is the law of cause and effect (as you sow, so shall you reap).

Karma is all that happens in our lives to which we formed an attachment,

either positive or negative. The purpose of doing karma yoga is to burn karma.

우선적으로 나는 너희들에게 칼마요가를 가르친다.

우리늬 모든 행동을 신성에게 헌신함으로써

행동의 결과에 상관없이 사심없이 우리는 행동을 수행한다.

칼마의 법칙은 원인과 결과의 법칙이다. 너희들이 씨앗을 심으면 거두게 되는 것이다.

칼마는 우리의 인생에서 일어나는 칼마는 우리는 긍적적인든 부정적이는

집착된 행동을 수반한다. ㅁ칼마요가의 목적은 칼마를 태우는 것이다.

첫째로 나는 당신들에게 카르마 요가를 준다.

이것은 Babaji께서 반복하여 강조하신 사실이다.

신의 이름을 반복하면서 우리 행동을 신께 제공하는 것으로

그리고 그 행동의 결과에 상관없이 사심없이 행동을 수행한다.

Because we offer our action to the Divine,

we do the best job possible with full attention to detail.

As we do our karma yoga,

Babaji taught us to repeat the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya".

Babaji said that karma yoga improves our health, our digestion, our sleep,

and our appetite. And so, when we are feeling doubtful, unclear, cranky, tired, etc.,

we first turn our attention to karma yoga and repetition of the mantra.

우리는 신께 우리 행동을 제공하기 때문에,

우리는 세심하게 완전한 주의력으로 가능한 최선의 일을 한다.

우리가 카르마 요가를 하면서,

Our devotional practices include aarati, fire ceremony, japa, meditation,

and karma yoga. These were given to us by Babaji to develop a sense of discipline,

to help us become fully conscious of every moment,

and to bring the sacred into daily life.

Participation in the devotional practices helps us experience joy, peace, and love.

우리 헌신적인 수행은 aarati, 불 의식, japa, 명상과 카르마 요가를 포함한다.

Karma Yoga: A requirement of being

at the Ashram is that everyone here WORKS everyday!

Karma yoga is selfless action devoted to the Divine

while repeating the name of God.

Not being attached to the results of the work is also key.

This is one of the strongest teachings of Babaji and our main spiritual practice.

카르마 요가: Ashram에 있으면서 요구사항은 여기의 모두가 매일 일한다라는 것이다!

카르마 요가는 신의 이름을 반복하면서 신께 바쳐지는 사심 없는 행동이다.

This simple practice can lead to tremendous insights and realizations within ourselves.

Karma yoga is a minimum of six hours per day, although sometimes

during celebration periods this changes.

We have a "karma yoga meeting" each morning after Aarati

to plan the activities and work that needs to be done that day.

Babaji said, ꡒWork is worship.ꡓ




이같은 단순한 수행은 우리들 자신 내면에 위대한 통찰과 실현을 이루게 한다.

축제 기간 동안, 카르마 요가는 비록 일정이 때때로 바뀌지만 하루에 최소 6 시간은 일한다.

Aarati: Aarati is the daily devotional temple service that takes place morning and evening.

Offerings of fire, earth, water, air and food are made to the Divine

as prayers are sung in Sanskrit and Hindi. Aarati offers the opportunity

for us to play music, sing and dance while celebrating

our connection to the Babaji and the Divine Mother.

Aarati: Aarati는 일일 아침과 저녁으로 기도 드리는데, 사원의 헌신적인 예배이다.

산스크리트어와 힌디어로 기도 노래하며 신께 불, 지구, 물, 공기와 음식의 공양물을 바친다.

Aarati는 Babaji Babaji and the Divine Mother께서 우리와 함께 항상 현전하시는 것을

Japa: Japa is reciting the name of God. Babaji said to use the name of God

that is in your heart. This means that a Christian may be repeating

a different name of God than a Buddhist or Muslim.

If one did not have a particular name of God the name

that Babaji recommends is "Om Namah Shivaya".

Constant repetition of this mantra acts like running water to purify the mind.

Japa: Japa는 Babaji God의 이름을 암송하는 것이다.

Babaji께서는 당신의 마음에 있는 God의 이름을 암송하라고 하셨다.

그 의미는 기독교도는 불교도 또는 회교도와는 다른 God의 이름을 암송할 것이기 때문이다.

만일 특별한 God의 이름이 없으면 Babaji께서는 "Om Namah Shivaya" 기도를 암송하라고 하셨다.

This is a way to devote all activity of the day to the Divine.

Babaji said we should repeat the name of God 24 hours a day.

Formal Japa is recited using prayer beads called a mala.

The mala has 108 beads that can be made out of sandalwood,

dried tulsi seeds or any semi-precious stones.

These are available in our Maha Lakshmi Shop.

이 Japa는 Babaji Divine 신께 하루의 모든 활동을 바치는 길이다.

Babaji께서는 하루 24시간 내내 우리가 God의 이름을 암송해야만 한다라고 말씀하셨다.

전형적인 Japa는 mala라고 불리는 기도 염주를 사용하면서 암송된다.

Havan: Havan (or fire ceremony) is an ancient Vedic form of worship

where the fire is seen as the mouth of the Divine.

Offerings of dried grains, fruit,and flowers are offered

during the havan while mantras are repeated in thanksgiving

for the many ways that the Divine sustains us.

Havan: Havan(또는 불 의식)은 불을 신Divine의 입으로 이해하며 예배하는 고대의 베다의식이다.

havan의 동안 신Divine께 건조한 곡물, 꽃, fruit, 선물 공양된다.

이 mantras기도암송은 신Divine이 우리를 유지하는 여러 면에서 감사 드리는 것이다.




Havans are performed on the new and full moon and other festivals.

Gifts of apples, bananas, coconuts, incense or flowers are appropriate to bring,

if you wish. Fasting from grains and other heavy foods before participating in a havan

is part of the discipline as well as wearing ceremonial clothes.

A small havan is performed each morning during spring, fall, and winter.

Havans는 초하루와 보름과 다른 축제 때에 수행된다.

만일 당신이 공양하기를 바라면 사과, 바나나, 코코넛, 향 또는 꽃의 선물을 가지고 올 수 있다.

havan에 참여하기 전에 금식하는 것과 의식에 알 맞는 옷을 입는 것 또한 수행의 하나이다.

For Women: A woman's moon time (menses) is a time for extra meditation and rest.

During the first three days we ask that you do not participate in temple activities,

havan or community food preparation.

However, other karma yoga service will be expected during these days.

여성을 위해: 여성의 달 시간(menses)는 여분의 명상과 휴식을 위한 시간이다.

According to Gaura devi, a close disciple of Babaji
and first western woman called forth by Babaji in the early 1970s,
Babaji told her that Sri Muniraji is the incarnation of Lahiri Mahasaya1
and that he has now reached a higher level of spiritual attainment
than when he was incarnated as Lahiri Mahasaya.
서양에서는 첫번째로 Babaji 바바지의 부름을 받은 여성으로서
1970년대에 초기 Babaji 바바지의 가장 가까운 제자 Gaura devi, 고라데비에 의하면

This Radio Interview was discovered

online in a simple website

offered by Pathways Radio, in 2000.

My friend, Ron, sent it to me and said,

“Wow, doesn’t this sound like the emails?”

It sure did to me!!! The wording

and phrasing are pretty much identical.
I wrote to the folks at Pathways Radio, asking how

and where and when

they got the interview with Babaji. Here is their reply:











"Dear Ms. Devivo:
The Babaji interview took place at least 3 or more years ago.

At that time

some of the programs were transcribed.

Anyway, we were at a health expo

and this middle aged man approached us

and said that he was a channel

for Babaji and that he would have Babaji come forth

if we would put a link

to the Babaji website.

We don't know who this person is and

never saw him again.

We couldn't find any babaji.net website

but some months ago someone said that this site did exist,

so true to our word, we put up the link.

The tape has been taped over

but I remember someone mentioning

that the man had a deep voice

and the voice that he channelled

was high pitched and shy sounding.

But you don't have to do this.You can simply repeat it silently.

Babaji: The great changes or Great Revolution has started.

It will be both wondrous and destructive.

Most of mankind will be destroyed as Nature balances

out the great injustices that mankind has caused

against the environment and each other.

There are a few out there who will be open to this message

and will repeat the mantra, live in Truth, Simplicity and Love

and serve others. They will live on the higher path,

attach themselves to God.

They will be brave and always walk on.

There will be many mountains to cross,

but they will not stop until the goal is reached.

They will be strong, and will never feel disheartened.

These will survive the Great Revolution.

Babaji: Change is nothing new. It is a Law of nature.

In your culture things are rarely sold truthfully.

Dr. Bob: Yes,I know what you mean.

The other day I went shopping for a computer from an

ad which listed the system and the price.

When I got to the store I found out that it

would cost 300 more dollars to get the proper

operating system installed and the right parts

to complete the system.

When I went to lease a compact car for 259 dollars

I found out about the true cost which included acquisition

fees,delivery fees.prep fees,excess mileage fees,

excess wear and tear fees, taxes, title,license,extra

insurance,maintenance fees,loan fees, etc.

which brought the true cost up to 500 dollars

a month not including gas!

There are always these extra costs that are

never mentioned.Same thing with a house.

When you add everything up you pay about

three times the actual price.But your brain is

saying "yeah, its only 110 thousand" or "wow,

this car is only 259 dollars a month".

Dr. Bob :

Babaji: Yes, business is filled with half truth,

cons and downright lies.All part of man's lower

nature and his desire to acquire things.

Babaji :


Dr. Bob: I guess the idea of lowballing the

price is to get you in for the bait and switch

or selling you something you don't really need

so the profit is higher. I guess which is

why people hate going to the dealer to buy a car.
Dr. Bob :


Babaji: And living in Truth is not limited to business

.It really involves our relationships.How many times

have you told a lie to a loved one?

Babaji :
Dr. Bob: In the past, guilty as charged. But on the

higher path I find that there is no need for that.
Dr. Bob :
Babaji: If we lived in truth most problems of

this world would disappear.

Babaji :만약 우리들이 참으로 Truth에 삶을 살면 이

Dr. Bob: So the first part of your message is to be truthful.

Truthful about your service, business, and about

your relationships.

Babaji: It is important that the words coming out of

your mouth are truthful.That you should not engage

in idle chatter or gossip.IT is better to be silent than

to utter lies that will surely come back and haunt you.

As it is written in your western religion,

"The truth shall set you free."

If you live in truth then much of the problems of this world

would cease to exist. We would not go to war in the name

of one God against another God when we really want

to acquire the things of the enemy. And this leads

to the second part of my message...Simplicity

Babaji: YES. Our desire for things a created a

great imbalance and toll on this world's environment.

This acquisition has led to the few owning

and controling most of the wealth.

And as this imbalance becomes more distorted,

the odds of a great war and the destructive

backlash of the evironment causing horrible diseases

becomes more likely. But if we were on the high path,

we would live in simplicity. How many homes does

one need to live in. ow many clothes do we need

to dress with. Things,things and more things.

Soon they own us.We worry about these things.

We steal them.Go to war overthem.

Spend our time guarding and maintaining them.

We become bored with things,discard them,get

new things and repeat the cycle over and over.

But we are still lonely, unfulfilled, agitated.



Babaji :




Dr. Bob: So on the higher path one would desire

few things and live simply yet still be comfortable.
Dr. Bob :
Babaji: Yes. The Buddha once said that

if you cannot in a moments notice leave your home

and all your things you could never be enlightened.

Babaji :예 그렇습니다.

부처는 옛날에 당신의 집과 당신의 모든 것들을 떠나

Dr. Bob: That's because we become attached to

all of our stuff so we can't free the mind to explore

the higher pathways.

Babaji: Exactly.On the high path one becomes

attached to nothing, but there is a connection,

a spiritual connection to the higher self, that part of you,

the real you, the one who observes the Universe,

the one connected to the Creator.Now,

this doesn't mean that you should give up your things.

It means that things are things.And on the higher path,

one is not attached to things, but merely observes.

for 15-20 thousand years and nothing has changed.

Its only getting worse.


Babaji: Yes, but your world is coming into a period

of great destructive change.And if simplicity is not adapted,

then nature will do it the hard way by destroying much

of humanity.

Babaji: There will be great changes upon your world.

Much of humanity will be destroyed by disease unleashed

from the hidden recesses of the land.Others will

face the great fire from within.

Babaji: This too is in a severe state of imbalance.

The few who have most of the wealth are now enslaving

is underpaid and you overpay.

This is enslavement that comes from greed.

Babaji :
Dr. Bob: How will this effect us?
Dr. Bob :






Babaji: This form of greed will lead to war.

The masses will rise up with sticks and stones and

will overpower the largest armies.And the consumers,

when they find out of this will support the downtrodden...

but let us get to the last part of my message


Dr. Bob: And that is...
Dr. Bob :
Babaji: Love. Truth,Simplicity,and Love.

And Love on the higher path is unconditional.

It is like the higher self who observes without thought,

without desire,without judgement.And love of the Creator.

Repeat Om Namah Shivay and you will connect to

your higher self which is God.

that you speak of. Can we stop them, head them off,

Babaji: These changes, or what I call the Great Revolution

are already set into motion. They ARE coming and

are at the early stages of process.

You are noticing the changes in climate,

more extreme conditions in temperature,larger

more powerful storms,more occurrences of volcanic

and earthquake activity and more extremes in the economies.

You notice the changes in the perception of time.

Everything appears to be speeding up.


You see your relationships changing rapidly.

You are agitated. You move and change jobs often.

You need more and more, faster and faster multiple

sensory input. Now these changes are here

and will rapidly increase and there will be much destruction.

This cannot be changed through technology. It is a bit too late.

But there are some who will have an open mind.

And to those who follow my message,

you will survive this and you will go on to serve

and create the wonderful changes that I also speak of.



Dr. Bob: And what can be wonderful after all of this

destructive change you are predicting?
Dr. Bob :
Babaji: After the Great Revolution, this world will enter

a golden age. The environment will be in balance and mankind

will have changed its ways by living on the higher path.

There will be tremendous technology.

It will take you to the stars in this galaxy

and beyond to other galaxies.

You will become a great race creating life throughout

the universe.And you will meet up with sentient beings

from other dimensions of space-time when your science

breaks through the quantum backdrop,

the ground of being from which everything comes,

the HOLOFIELD.

Babaji :Great Revolution 후에, 이 세계는

"... p.s. I don't care if it was "you" or not you at the radio

interview. It sure is the same set of information,

as far as I can tell. Many are saying that these emails

are from an American devotee, and if so,

I would like to meet this devotee and shake

his hand and congratulate him on his internalization

of the teachings, his wisdom, his clarity,

his unconditional love and compassion. It is a blessing."

The Growing Garland, 13 July 2006
The Growing Garland

This play is performed by the children in the Sathya Sai School of Canada, in Toronto, Canada. The school was started in 2000. The play takes place in the future, about 2070, and revolves around an elderly lady who went to the school as a child.

On the evening of 7 July, the children of Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas in the area of Mumbai performed a musical drama: the story of Moses leading the Hebrews to freedom from slavery in Egypt and God giving Moses the ten commandments. A moving story, excellently performed.

Devotees from Mahrashtra and Goa perform on this auspicious day.
Ashadi Ekadashi marks the beginning of the Chaturmasa. On this day, people walk in huge processions to Pandharpur, the abode of Lord Vitthal, chanting hymns, to have his darshan. This video shows the parade at Prasanthi Nilayam, Swami's entrance, a talk about the occasion, and a traditional dance.

Guru Purnima Symphony, 2005
On 20 July 2005, an orchestra made up of professional and amateur musicians from around the world played classical music in Sai Kulwant Hall. The packed Hall was thrilled to hear music of Beethoven, Dvorak, Mozart, and other composers, including some rousing Spanish pieces.

76th Birthday Montage
